Sudden realisation that I've missed so much happening in the culture of my country during my complete social distancing due to covid / transition / war: so many new local scenes appearing, thriving, and dying, so many words describing current vital feelings and happenings.

Funnily enough, my urgent interest in local music scenes reappeared around 2020 with me challenging my own stereotypes of the general Russian music culture toxicity, but at that time I already couldn't attend local gigs for the aforementioned reasons.

And now this feeling of desire to belong to something local that you could be proud of and share with everyone else only grows the more impossible it becomes. The further these dark times get — the more music will be appearing exclusively on vk and яндекс.музыка, thus widening the cultural rift between those inside and outside. People adapt, diy scenes adapt, festivals invite new artists who've learned not to say things out loud. The music just goes on — this time without any promises of protests or resistance, it seems. The music is just surviving by reflecting on things inside and around.
