The more I write and read these blog round-ups, the more I think of them as a superior form of sharing cool stuff on the Internet, compared to the endless and ephemeral reposts on social media that get lost so fast.

Cool Games

  • LITHOBREAKERS Jam 02-Unhinged Group Dynamics by LITHOBREAKERS — New LITHOBREAKERS games! I've only started playing them, but this is an event that only happens once in a while (same with Domino Club and vextro) that no one should miss.

  • BLUEJEWELED by brandonhare — the way this game is using a whole other big game just to tell a joke is so inspiring. I really want to play more mods like this one.

  • Dragonsweeper by Daniel Benmergui — probably the biggest recent hit game that I highly recommend checking out. I still need to get the maximum 303 score. Content warning: violent strobing effect during the game loading.

Writing On Games

  • THE TEN WOMEN I’VE HAD TO BE by Skeleton

    I was forced to be a specific idea of a woman in the Cammy’s and Lara Crofts of the last several decades of consoles and PC games: always the idea of what a woman can be often created by men, and almost always straight men who fawned over their digital creations as if they were wives and simultaneously daughters.

  • Games I’m Looking Forward To 2025 by mpklamerus — Virtual Moose has become one of my main sources for learning about new video games, and this list has some very interesting games that I haven't heard of. Also, new HOMM?? o__O

  • The Making of LEGO Island: A Documentary by MattKC — LEGO Island developers talking about their experience of making the game. Thank you, MattKC!

  • Strawberry Starter by Bagenzo — a new nice blog template for 11ty! I love 11ty very much, and the more accessible it can be, the more people will hopefully start their own blogs with it. And I really want everyone to start blogging on their own websites... Melos Han-Tani has switched to using Strawberry Starter, and you can too!

  • Dispelling a terrible thing that Grammarly wants you to believe by Laura Michet

    I find it extremely dark and horrible that these LLM ads are suggesting: hey, instead of communicating your thoughts naturally and fearlessly, why not get a little afraid? Why not get a little more neurotic? Plug each of your emails into this tool, and we'll find all those secret flaws you can't even see in your text. We'll make it appropriate for the world. You need us to mediate your thoughts, or they won't be fit to share.

  • Watch this guy demonstrate his man-sized automated litter box by Laura Michet — sharing the post about the video here, and not the video itself, because that's how I've found out about the video and I just want to thank Laura for sharing it.   • Fluid Simulation Pendant by mitxela — look at this beautiful accessory! The detailed video and the article covering the process of creating this pendant keep reminding me how much education hobbyists can actually provide to everyone, sometimes completely for free. Someday I'm going to start tinkering with hardware, too... But for now, I'm just getting infinitely inspired by creations (and creators) like this one <3
