Fernsehturm Berlin

2025 February 24
Current Mood: feverish and snottish
Now Playing: Девушкин сон - Осеннее небо

Initially we didn't plan to pay for the Fernsehturm Berlin expensive tickets, but by the time we got to Alexanderplatz it was almost sunset and we decided that it would be the perfect time to go to the observation deck, if ever.

So many people work there as security, and the personal belongings inspection, aka шмон, was pretty intense. After waiting for about half an hour it was our turn to go up by the elevator (very fast), and it turned out that the bigger section of the tower (Panorama Bar) was closed and the narrow corridor of the observation deck was the only option for looking at Berlin for quite a large group of people. It started okay for me, but soon enough my fear of heights kicked in and for a minute or two I was experiencing a very strong panic attack. I was losing balance. It got better for some reason when me and my partner moved to the other side of the deck — I think it had something to do with higher buildings in closer proximity, and with middle school students from the UK excitingly jumping around. We've spent as much time as we needed there without problems after that, and I'm quite satisfied with how it all went! Got some nice photos from this expensive adventure (:
