Back in 2018 I bought a pack of markers at a local IKEA and out of the blue I loved them so much that I decided to do some kind of a drawing challenge just to have a reason to draw more with them. I basically have barely drawn anything in my life before that (aside from school assignments and several teenage attempts) and never learned to draw, but that was something I've always wanted to get into. So I thought about something quantitative that could be drawn every day, and my gamer brain had nothing better to come up with than Pokémon.

I posted a drawing a day on twitter, sometimes I had to skip a day or two, but then I did several drawings in one day. Basically, I was redrawing the classic illustrations of pokemon found on Bulbapedia pages, and at some point I even started trying out different drawing materials.

I only got to Arcanine (#59), not even getting to draw some of my favourite pokemon from the first generation, but it was still a very fun practice that definitely got me closer to feeling the fun of drawing.

Later in 2021 I had another wave of inspiration caused by watching Blue Period that resulted in pencil drawing practice of real life objects. I even started learning by the famous Bert Dodson book, but I didn't get very far because other life stuff was too overwhelming.

I'm still hoping to make drawing a regular thing I do for fun, but nowadays I barely have any capacity for any creative work just for myself, so we'll see how it goes.

I'm glad I have a personal place on the Internet where I can post all these drawings together in better (scanned) quality for the memory sake.

P.S. I used a python macro that I wrote for LibreOffice Calc just to be able to convert my spreadsheets to JSON and to easily work with them in static website builders. More about this script later when I finish optimizing it!
