Two Evenings in Wuppertal

I wanted to visit Wuppertal since watching The Tim Traveller youtube video about its suspension railway [youtube]. Or was it the Tom Scott one [youtube]?.. The monorail looked so cool!

When deciding on where to stay during this year's gamescom it was my first suggestion. The city is only 40 minutes from Köln by train, and we couldn't find any affordable accommodation option in Köln itself, so it was an easy decision in the end.

Upon arriving at the city center we were blown away by the verticality of its streets on both sides from the main railway station — the city is built as a long line stretching along the valley with a river flowing at the bottom of the valley and the suspension railway going above the river.

We only had a couple of evenings to explore Wuppertal because of a tight devcom / gamescom schedule, and I definitely want to come back sometime later to make more photos, because right now Wuppertal takes the first place in my Most Interesting Cities in Germany top list +__+
