Our New Year Tree

Me and my partner got a normal size plastic New Year Tree and a bunch of various ornaments to decorate it with. This is the first time in more than 15 years (basically since I've moved out of my parents' place) when I had a New Year Tree to decorate and look at during the winter holidays season. We basically didn't have space to have one before, but now, while mostly spending all our time in this new apartment, we are trying to remember what the winter holidays mood felt like for us many years ago.

To be honest, I didn't feel much joy after finishing decorating the tree, mostly because these new ornaments that we got don't have any emotional value to me yet (unlike the ones I remember from my childhood) — they are just something that we found to be interesting among the stuff we could afford to get on sale. I still think we've managed to decorate the tree quite nicely and it's nice to look at, maybe it was just a bit silly of me to think that it would get me out of my current depression pit right into the festive mood — especially since we still barely had any snow outside, and most likely won't get any at all this year.
